Welcome to my 1/350th TOS Enterprise build up. I originally envisioned this in another medium, but thought that I would go this route as a back-up, to make sure that I got something done. Ultimately, I ended up getting more done this way than I was getting done through another process. There has been much ado about this particular craft, for some time, and my reason for doing the build up this way is that I wanted to show that anyone could do it, with readily available supplies. Essentially, I'm building this out of foam, paper, tape, glue, fiberglass and Bondo. All of these items are cheap and easy to use and readily available from your local WalMart, or general purpose outlet. In the first picture you can see what are the preliminary mock ups of the Engineering section and nacelles. These are nothin more than foam insulator, paper and tape. I'll show this process in more detail later.

In the next photo you can see these mock ups next to the 1/1000 PL kit and the 22" AMT TOS Enterprise kit. In my opinion, bigger is better.

The following photo shows some of the basic building materials used to make this ship and a nacelle made of foam, paper and tape.

Below is a shot of the nacelle with the foam setting up and expanding out of each end. Note: It takes a little time for this foam to become fully expanded, to make a firm base for the coming fiberglass work.

I mocked up the nacelle pylons using balsa wood and paper. Don't ya love it?
