I used Alan Sinclair's blueprints and a paper model, based on his prints, by Ron Caudillo. I sized the blueprints and model components to create a 32.5" kit/model. As you see, I've printed up some templates, to cut balsa wood framing out of for the upper and lower saucer section.


You can see that the framing is mocked up right on the surface of a sized print of Alan's prints.


Here you can see the next phase in construction. Each piece is wrapped with fiberglass screening. This is the same stuff that is used to fix screen doors. Approx $5.96 per roll. After it is screened it is covered with a coat of glass.


In this photo, you can see that I've covered the lower saucer section with screen and two coats of glass. Then I cut out pie cuts to lay over the glass to give me an idea of the proper sizing and to stiffen the screen.


I've finished the pie cuts and started working on the rim.
